Catering Vegan Food
At Canape Company we have noticed an increase in requests to cater more for the vegan clients, both for our office catering and private catering. Why? We asked the same thing. After doing lots of research as to why more and more people are become vegan, we realized that it was not only for animal cruelty, but it is now more about the health benefits and sustainability.
Well-planned vegan diets follow healthy eating guidelines and contain all the nutrients that our bodies need. Some research has linked vegan diets with lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and lower rates of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer. Going vegan is a great opportunity to learn more about nutrition and cooking and improve your diet. Getting your nutrients from plant foods allows more room in your diet for health-promoting options like whole grains, fruit, nuts, seeds and vegetables, which are packed full of beneficial fiber, vitamins and minerals.
Many vegans believe that veganism is THE sustainable option when it comes to looking after our planet. Plant-based living is also a more sustainable way of feeding the family. A plant-based diet requires only one third of the land needed to support a meat and dairy diet. With rising global food and water insecurity due to a myriad of environmental and socio-economic problems, veganism has increased to adopt a more sustainable way of living. Avoiding animal products is not just one of the simplest ways an individual can reduce the strain on food as well as other resources, it's the simplest way to take a stand against inefficient food systems which disproportionately affects the poorest people all over the world. Canape company is currently developing our own sustainability policy. Part of this includes a more plant-based menu. If it is possible to live a life that involves delicious food and drink, delivers better health, leaves a smaller carbon footprint and avoids killing other creatures - then why don't we?
Our chefs have been busy creating new menu choices to suit the vegan diet taking on board all the essential nutrients our bodies need to survive and ensuring that our clients are well looked after nourished and not left feeling hungry. We are excited with the results; some delicious new vegan food is available on our menus. The vegan options are brilliant here as anyone who is egg or diary free is catered for. There is virtuous feeling of health that is enjoyed by anyone who eats this diet.
