A little Bite Fancy!

Canape Kai, Matariki and a fresh look at Party food. That was the brief for our latest menu additions.
We had an exciting week creating these new canapés and wanted them to evoke that feeling of New Zealand. 

Using all local ingredients, these gorgeous new delicacies are easy to serve and eat at your next party or event.


What is more New Zealand than a traditional boil up! 

Inspired by the food of Monique Fiso, we took a similar approach and the result was our own rich meaty soup with a the freshness of watercress served with house made fried bread.

We made Mutton bird into a rillette with pork and cut the richness with a sharp sweet plum & pinot jelly and served it with watercress micro shoots.

Kai Moana is New Zealand’s greatest epicurean asset. On this menu we have mussel fritters and raw marinated fish. The raw fish or ceviche is a fusion of cultures with our descendants/people from Polynesia and is garnished with dried seaweed.

Sustainability is a huge consideration when designing menus and as such unless requested we no longer suggest using whitebait and now have two more vegan canape options:
Delicious and delicate wild mushroom risotto balls with truffle or
Kumara, water chestnut, cashew & kaffir lime dumplings. Finished with a ginger, sesame and black vinegar dressing, this dumpling is a huge crowd pleaser.

You couldn't have a New Zealand themed menu without featuring lamb, so we've created this beautiful new canapé. Our rosemary & horopito marinated lamb is served on a thrice cooked kumara cake then topped with watercress pesto & a crispy shard of kumara.

For larger appetites we have two new manapes (man sized canapés). Either tamarind butternut & eggplant (vegan) or sticky pork (meat lovers).

Finally to finish who could resist a tiny tart of tamarillo with a kawa kawa meringue & horopito white chocolate or a truffle of lemon balm, kaffir lime, white chocolate, pumpkin seed and pistachio. Delicious!

This is a fresh new menu is available as a package (minimum 20 people) for all of the above gorgeous canape food! (Please note you will require one of our amazing Chef's onsite)
